Appointments:
Please ring 9509 5922 for an appointment. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and GP. Emergencies will always be given priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforseen delay or if your GP has been called away. Longer consultation times are available, so please ask our receptionists if you require some extra time. If you or a family member requires an interpreter service, we can organise this for you. Please let us know when you make the appointment.

Telephone access:
Doctors may be contacted during normal surgery hours. If your doctor is with a patient, a message will be taken and the reception staff will advise you when it is likely that your doctor will return your call. Your call will always be put through to a doctor in an emergency.

Fees and billing arrangements:
Fees are payable at the time of consultation by cash, cheque, Eftpos or MasterCard, Visa and Amex.
The AMA fee structure forms the basis of our billing policy and is displayed in the reception area of the surgery.
If you have any difficulty paying our fees, please discuss it with your doctor

Getting the results of any test or procedure:
Your doctor will advise when they expect the results to arrive at the practice. Results cannot be given to you over the telephone. Please make an appointment with your doctor to find out your results and to ask what they mean for your care.

Reminder system:
Our practice is committed to preventative care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care.  How to claim with Medicare?

On-the-spot claiming means that you can save a trip to the Medicare office or avoid the hassle of forwarding doctors' cheques to the clinic.

Medicare Australia is now encouraging people to provide Medicare with their bank account details, to speed up the process of on-the-spot claiming at our clinic. Providing Medicare with your bank account details is secure, easy and you only have to do it once.

Our practice will send your claim, after you have paid the bill in full, electronically to MedicareAustralia through a secure internet connection and Medicare will pay your rebate directly into your nominated cheque or savings account within two to three working days. If you do not wish to release your bank details, Medicare will send you the rebate cheque in the mail.

Register your bank details first by logging in online (www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/online), by calling 132 011 (call charges apply, 24 hours service), in person at your local Medicare office, or by completing an Electronic Funds Transfer details collection form available from our website or your local office.

Register your bank details with Medicare online, over the phone or at a Medicare office

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Step 1: Pay your account in full after you have seen your doctor (cash, EFTPOS, credit card or cheque) and let us know that you would like to claim your rebate on-the-spot.

Step 2: If you have given your bank account details to Medicare, your rebate will be paid directly into that account.

Step 3: Keep the printed receipt for your records.

We will retain our current billing system, so please remember to bring in Medicare cheques to your next appointment or send them to us in the mail.

We would like to hear what you think about the new billing system. Talk to one of the receptionists or drop a note in the comments box at reception.

MEDIA RELEASE

Local practice receives top accreditation honour

Armadale received a further health boost today when Recreation Medical Centre received the award of accreditation, demonstrating the quality and safety of their practice.

The Practice received the top honour from Australia's most respected accreditation body, Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL).

AGPAL Chair Dr Richard Choong said the accreditation award shows that the practice makes a significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis from the top down.

?Achieving accreditation is a major achievement for any practice and it is a clear demonstration that Recreation Medical Centre is seeking to improve their level of service for both patients and the community,? he said.

?Practices seek accreditation because they want to be the best and view this as another step towards excellence.?

The AGPAL accreditation program was developed jointly by AGPAL and various doctor's organisations including the AMA. It is a voluntary national program that aims to provide a range of guarantees to patients by accrediting the practice environment.

To achieve this endorsement, a practice team works for 12 months to implement the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for General Practices, which si the recognised standard nationally for assessment for general practice.

The standards train staff in areas such as ensuring vaccines are within their use-by-date and are stored in the correct temperatures; that the practice equipment is clean and sterile and the practice has emergency care available.

Dr Choong said accreditation is attainable only through cooperation and communication between staff members.

?Everyone at the practice plays a valuable role in working to meet the standards. It gives staff a real sense of pride to work in an accredited practice,? added Dr Choong.

Recreation Medical Centre proudly display the AGPAL logo for all their patients to see.

?We want to communicate to our patients that their wellbeing is our priority. By being accredited, our patients know we are committed to providing quality care that meets the RACGP's standards.?

For further information on AGPAL, please visit www.agpal.com.au or free call 1300 362 111.
